THE PURPOSE OF THIS COURSE:

To give clear guidelines on the steps needed to be compliant with the POPI-ACT Regulations particularly related to Patient Confidentiality.

THE POPI Act of South Africa was passed in 2013 and compliance is required by the 1st of July 2021.

The purpose of the Act is to enforce responsible management of patient’s personal information within the workplace.

Charmaine Small will discuss legalities concerning employee code of conduct and the steps taken for disciplinary action if there is a breach of privacy.

Description

Compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), also known as the POPI Act, will be mandatory for most organizations in South Africa.  As the Information Regulator develops the POPI Regulations further, so the dates and requirements will become clearer. This course seeks to educate and inform attendees on what is needed to be compliant with the POPI ACT with regard to Patient Information.
